I can’t remember when I had more problems with a lip product. This new gloss from Butter London is so hard to work with I can’t even publish/post the pictures of me wearing it because it looks horrible. This is such a sticky hard to work with opaque gloss that it’s going back to Ulta on the first thing smokin!
I tried several different ways to make this work. All of them failed. I love the bright pink color but I hate the super sticky texture and the fact that it’s impossible to keep the pink color consistant across my lips. That’s why there are no pictures. You can literally see different levels of pink color. Not an all over finish of pink if that makes sense. I erased my lips (with concealer) but not even that helped the situation. No lip balm or with lip balm, it didn’t matter. The least I expect from a gloss is a consistant color throughout regardless of color and texture and I couldn’t achieve that. To coat my lips it took three dips of the doe foot wand applicator but even then I had to WERK to get the gloss to look even. I tried with less and I tried with more. Still it wasn’t any better. I tried a lip brush still no good.
With my best efforts…I still wouldn’t leave my house in this. After two hours the color is spotty in the center of my mouth and patent leather glossy around the sides of my mouth. Yikes….serious texture issues.
At $17 a tube it’s going back. I love the shade and packaging but I don’t have time to “babysit” and work on a gloss like it’s a science project. I love your nail polishes Butter London but I will skip your gloss with regrets! I understand that this might be a great fit for some but if you want to try this keep your receipt in case it doesn’t work for you.

Disco Biscuit (regular light and w/flash)
Want to see my Disco Biscuit? Ha! Couldn’t help it sorry….Disco Biscuit is part of Butter London’s Spring/Summer collection. It’s a bright hot pink with lots of glitter. The glitter is mostly purple, green, and blue. It’s such a fun color I had to try it!
You can pick it up for around $14 from Ulta or Nordstrom. But before you do let me tell you it’s not a super easy color to work with. I used a China Glaze base coat, two coats of color, and then a top coat (Seche Vite) for my manicure. I used a base coat because many of you told me that this dries crazy odd and bumpy. For some reason the formula is overpowered by the glitter and leaves behind a textured bumpy finish. The base coat that I used helped keep the application smooth and the top coat further helped me to get a smooth-ish finish. So in order to get a finish that you can live with depending on how particular you are BREAK OUT YOUR BASE & TOP COAT with this one. That being said I love the end result!
I am happy with this color and I just have to remember when I pull out Disco Biscuit in the future to use a base and top coat with it. I usually get a few days wear without chips w/Butter London polishes. I’ll update this post if anything crazy happens with this color in the next few days.
Have you purchased any Butter London polishes that you like? I have a few good colors from them. Let me know if you have any favorites that I should try!
I got two nail colors from Nordstrom today. Butter London’s Disco Biscuit….
And a color I missed out on last Fall when if flew off the shelves when it was released…Metallic Sage from Estee Lauder.
If you haven’t seen Metallic Sage in action check it out here on Scrangie. It’s such a pretty color and I’m glad they had it. Now if they’d just re-release Modern Mercury so I could check it out again ha!
My Black Friday purchases are finally coming! I ordered a bunch of stuff the day after Thanksgiving and everything is just starting to come in the mail. I hope to get my Sugarpill, Cult of Nails, and the Balm order today. These three polishes from Butter London I ordered came yesterday and look at them…there are no words for Black Knight and Tart With A Heart they are just amazing!
Tart With A Heart, Nail Foundation, and The Black Knight
I saw the Nail Foundation demonstrated on Karla Sugar’s blog I think. It looked like a good thing to use under those colors that aren’t opaque enough when you’re doing your nails. Sometimes I really love a nail color but I hate that you can see the white part at the ends of my nails! Here is the info on the Nail Foundation on the back of the bottle.
Here is another shot of Tart With A Heart and The Black Knight…
I love purple polish, and this was a shade from Butter London that I couldn’t wait to try. It took a while to get after all the wedding excitement. I did three coats of color and a top coat of Seche Vite.
Butter London polishes are great and retail for $14 each for .4 oz. of product. Last week I saw a huge display of Butter London Polishes at Ulta, so look for a Butter London display on your next visit to the store.
