LUSH Buffy Body Butter

This is a winter must have for me. I came across Buffy on one of my first visits to the new LUSH store that they built near my house over a year ago. Once the helpful LUSH sales associate told me I wouldn’t have to use lotion after showering with Buffy I must have had the craziest happy look on my mug. I was up for that, I slather an unattractive amount of lotion on after showers in the winter. My skin gets supper dry and cracked if I don’t keep it moisturized. I hate that extra step so I decided to try out Buffy.

There are a lot of helpful ingredients in this bar. Shea butter and cocoa butter which are some of my favorite moisturizers and also ground rice to help exfoliate the skin. I worried that the exfoliant would be to harsh but it’s definitely not in my opinion. The moisturizers balance things out and it all works together to make your skin smoother. Buffy should be used on wet skin.

I can’t tell you how much I love using this. I don’t have to pile on the lotion after a shower, I can just dry off and get dressed. I wish I had found this years ago. I tend to pat myself dry after using this because my skin is so moisturized. It’s not a greasy film that is left behind it’s just a thick layer of moisturization. It doesn’t interfere with my clothes in any way but this is definitely something you might need to try out first at the store before committing to using it. Some might not be happy with the thick “film” that Buffy leaves behind. Since it doesn’t get on my clothes I’m happy with it.

It’s not cheap ($22 for 7 oz large bar) but I think I go through 3-4 of these every winter and that’s fine with me. A smaller 3.30z bar is $12.

There is a very short video about how to use Buffy on the LUSH YouTube channel. Check it out!

LUSH Ambrosia Shaving Cream

This is an interesting product from LUSH. I really love their stuff, I’ve been using Ambrosia for several months so I thought I’d tell you about it.

If you have sensitive skin this is a great shaving product. It’s a very nice creamy liquid so it’s really not your traditional shave cream. It’s the consistency of lotion, in fact it looks like Lubriderm to me. What I notice after using it is really smooth moisturized skin. The recommendation is to let it soak into your skin for 3-5 minutes before you start shaving. Who has time for that lol? I’m really happy with putting it on and shaving soon after. My skin looks and feels great. No angry irritated red skin or bumps. The soothing properties of the ingredients really make shaving a pleasure and a hassle free process.

Overall I love this, it’s really pricey though. For $17.95 you get 8.8oz.’s. WOWZA. This is more expensive than my Skintimates or Gillette Foamy that’s for sure!

LUSH Turkish Delight

This is one of the products that I save for special occasions. I use this yummy scented LUSH product when I need a little happiness in a tub. The smell is delicious. It’s like nothing I’ve ever smelled  before. The combo of roses, cocoa butter, almond oil, and some other scents equals something good enough to eat.

I wasn’t sure what to do with this when I got it. Honestly the amazing smell is what got me. I got this at a brand new LUSH store that opened up near me several months ago. The unbelievable smell is what sold it. So basically you just smooth Turkish Delight all over your skin in the shower. Who needs a product like that? Well I didn’t think much about that because I NEEDED the scent. That’s what I needed. It feels really great, not super-moisturizing on my dry skin but just good enough to leave a little moisture behind.

And its expensive. It’s $30 for 7 oz. I got my tub last August and I’ve rationed that baby out so it’s almost empty right before it expires next month:)

Turkish Delight is a special treat. I use it after an exhausting workout or a not so happy day. After a whiff of this, things look a lot better.

LUSH Angels on Bare Skin Cleanser

It really took a while for me to try this product from LUSH. In fact it really took me a while to try LUSH products period because I’m not a big fan of bar soaps. It took a while to figure out if there where some products I would enjoy from them aside from bar soaps. Still this facial cleanser in all its solid chunky rolled glory was a leap for me. But I am very glad I got it.

This cleanser is for all skin types. It’s made with ground almond and soothing lavender. So its great for exfoliating that pesky dead skin on my face. My skin is definitely smoother after washing with this. It just takes a tiny dime size amount of product to do the job. After washing with this my face is gently exfoliated and nicely moisturized. I was very worried about the after effects of using this since I have oily skin. Usually products leave my skin too oily (especially if they are recommended for all skins) or dry and tight. This left my skin perfectly moisturized and free of dead skin. That’s important to me because it makes makeup application smooth. Unless your skin is nice and smooth all the foundation in the world wont help you. I really recommend this for anyone that wants some exfoliation and a really thorough cleanser for the face. I can see why this is good for all skins.

LUSH Tea Tree Water Toner

I really like this toner. It’s from LUSH and I am trying most of their stuff and seeing whats good. I definitely think that this is one of my favorite things from them. I have oily skin and this really helps keep breakouts at bay I think.

I love tea tree oil, its been in a lot of the products that I have used in the past. I used to swear by some tea tree oil shampoo that I used to have. I loved the tingling sensation. Besides being antibacterial and soothing it just feels great when I spray some of this stuff on my cotton ball and quickly go over my nose and forehead. My skin is instantly toned and the dead skin is swept away. I love it. I usually do this once or twice a day after cleansing my face. You can also spray this directly on your face. I don’t but you can!

I have the small 3.3oz spray bottle that retails for $8.95. I am not a big fan of toners by the way because usually I feel that they are a bit drying. This one makes the cut though. My skin doesn’t feel tight or dry after using it. This is recommended for normal to oily skin.

LUSH 9 To 5 Liquid Cleanser

I am in love with this stuff. I just used the last bit of it left in my bottle this morning so I’m officially in a funk. Just kidding, well sort of.

This was a great product for my confused combination skin this winter. Winter is my favorite time of year skin wise. My t-zone area is not too oily and my cheeks are dry and in need of extra moistuizer. That’s why 9 To 5 was perfect for me. At night after I used my beloved Dove Makeup Remover Wipes it was just the right gentle follow-up product. It’s a nice light creamy cleanser that my skin just soaks up. Once it’s wiped off your skin just looks perfectly moist and supple. Really nice. This is great for sensitive skin also. Some of the ingredients are almond oil, dove orchids, and ylang ylang.

This really reminds me of Cetaphil’s Gentle Cleanser. It looks the same if you asked me. Like I said earlier I usually always take off my makeup with wipes before cleansing but this product actually did a pretty good job of removing my makeup all on its own on lazy nights. I routinely just smoothed about a quarter sized dollop all over my face and then took a wet washcloth to my face and everything wiped off easily. What I liked most was the nicely moisturized skin left behind. No tightness or dryness whatsoever.

As usual LUSH is charging highway robbery prices to take this little bottle of perfection home. The smaller bottle (3.4 oz.) is $8.95 and the larger bottle about $18. I’ll be saving up for a new bottle for this coming Fall, darn you LUSH.

This Just In: ExfoliKate, Atomic Lipstick, and LUSH Facial Cleansers

ExfoliKate by Kate Somerville, $19 for .5 oz. at Sephora. I’ve heard a lot about this, it’s really expensive if you get the full size (shoot this one was expensive too!) so I wanted to try it before investing in it. It’s an intensive exfoliating treatment for all skin types. The directions say to use it once or twice weekly. I’ll let you know what I think after using it.

Illamasqua Atomic Lipstick, $22 for .14 oz. This is a lipstick shade that I’ve been wanting to get for a while. I am nuts for pink and any fuchsia shade so this was bound to make it into my makeup collection. I’ll have to show this on my lips soon. It reminds me of two favorites Mac Show Orchid and Mac Candy Yum Yum. I am in love with them also.

LUSH’s Herbalism and Angels On Bare Skin Facial Cleansers. I really love LUSH expensive as it is. I have tried a few of their face products and loved them. I thought I’d try some of their facial soap/cleanser type products. Herbalism is for oily/problem skin and Angels On Bare Skin is for all skin types. I have to see how my skin reacts to these. I’ll let you know which one works best for my crazy combination skinned self!

Have you tried any of these products? Do tell!

LUSH Helping Hands, Pied De Pepper, and Smitten

I got a bunch of LUSH goodies last summer and I’ve been using them for months so I thought I’d tell you about them before I have nothing left in the little black pots to show you!

LUSH Helping Hands ($18.95 for 3.5oz.) is a nice yet unbelievably expensive hand cream. There are some great ingredients for moisture deprived hands like almond oil, shea butter, and cocoa butter. I found this to be a nice creamy formula but I couldn’t buy this again because its sooo darn expensive. Wow. I kind of want younger looking hands for all that loot. But that’s just me! I think that this isn’t special enough for the price tag.

LUSH Pied De Pepper ($15.95 for 3.5 oz.) is a really good intensely moisturizing foot cream. I love this because it’s so different. There is cinnamon, olive oil, and cocoa butter that will soften any rough skin that you may have on your feet. Plus and here is what makes this unique they’ve added lemon oil to control foot perspiration! Hot diggity dog! That’s innovation. This I’d buy again but not because I have sweaty feet. I really hope you weren’t thinking that I do. That would be messed up. I just think it’s a good idea for people who do;) That’s not why I use this AT ALL. Ok now that we have that cleared up we can move on.

LUSH Smitten ($17.95 for 3.5 oz.) is a really nice almond scented hand cream. I think the name is cute. In fact that’s what first attracted me to it. This has all kinds of soothing ingredients like get this, a chamomile infusion. Doesn’t that sound good? It sounds like something that I’d like to brew up and drink before bed! It contains a lot of great oils including Coconut, Almond, and Avocado just to name a few. This formula is nice and I think a tad on the greasy side in my opinion. It’s something that I love for tough jobs like when my hands are a complete wreck. It’s great in the cuticles, it gets them back into shape in a hurry. I really like this except I wish it was a tad less greasy feeling. I can’t open doors after using this sometimes. That’s not good.

Lush Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter & Burt’s Bee’s Lemon Butter Cuticle Creme

First off I love the name…Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter! Cute huh?!

This is a product I’ve been using for a few months on my dry (oh so dry) cuticles. I was previously a huge Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Creme fan. I have gone through three tins of that stuff in recent years. So I was interested in finding out about the differences between the two products. They are both yummy smelling and lemony but which is better?

The tub for Lush’s cuticle butter is 1.5 oz which is nice in comparison to the much smaller .60 oz. Burt’s Bees tin. The difference in price is interesting. The Lush tub is $14.95 and the Burt’s Bees tin is $6 at Walmart.

I would say the Burt’s Bees version has more staying power and lasts through more hand washings for me. At $6 and with more staying power this is better to me. I used Burt’s Bee’s on one hand and Lush’s Lemony Flutter on the other a few times and Burt’s Bee’s was the clear winner every time. My dry cuticles just love the Burt’s Bee’s Creme. I think the longer you need to re-apply the better. I can apply the Burt’s Bee’s formula once a day.

After my Lush tub is done I’m going back to Burt’s Bees:) But if you are looking for something that’s great for dry heels and elbows maybe the Lush Lemony Butter is right for you. Because it’s larger and a lighter consistency it’s better for all over moisturizing. So take all that into consideration when looking into which of the two might fit your needs best.

Lush Ultra Bland

My first mistake was realizing that this was best for normal to dry skin after I started using it. But since I am a combination skin girl I figured that this would be okay for me to use during the winter. My face except for my t-zone is really dry during the winter so it was a good time to try this makeup remover.

Ultra Bland is a really powerful cleanser for removing every trace of makeup on your face. I love how after you rub this all over your face your makeup totally melts off. What is left behind is smooth moisturized skin. There are some wonderful ingredients like almond oil, rosewater, beeswax, and honey included in the formula. All these sooth the skin beautifully.

If you aren’t into makeup cleansing wipes this is a great option. Especially if you have dry skin. I found that after using this my makeup was completely gone and my face had a moisturized sheen to it so I didn’t even need to apply moisturizer. It’s not cheap though. I got a small 1.5 oz. tub and it cost a whopping $14.95! This is great if you don’t like makeup wipes and you have a dryer skin tone. The moisturizing properties are fantastic.

Rated B- (the price…grrrr)
