Ulta Beauty Steal-Bare Minerals Mascara 50% Off-Today Only!

I love Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty!

Today is the day I’ve been waiting for-Bare Minerals mascara’s 50% off! I got two from the sale last year. The limit is 2 in store but online it let me get more….just a tip for hoarders like myself. Getting a mascara for $9 instead of $18 is HUGE. I love this mascara and often double up and use two kinds together for that over the top lash look I love. I like using Flawless Definition Volumizing with Flawless Definition Curl & Lengthen. I love how my lashes end up curled and BIGGER!

These are great alone as well. So don’t feel like you need to double up. Oh and another great point-your lashes will still be soft and not crispy (lol) when you are done using this!

Check this deal out today if you’ve always wanted to try one of Bare Mineral’s mascaras!!

Bare Minerals Mascara-3 Minute Review!

It Cosmetics Hello Lashes Mascara

I’ve watched the presentation for this mascara on QVC and walked up to the TV screen because I wasn’t sure what I was seeing was for real. I couldn’t believe I was watching someones lashes curl from a mascara formula (eyelash curler hater here!) so I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me! But they weren’t this is really good mascara.

It Cosmetics Hello Lashes Volumizing Mascara Duo (approx. $29 on QVC)

Part of the reason I think this works so well for me is the wand with the “ball detailer” at the end. I can reach all my lashes including the ones that are hard to get to in the inner corner of my eye. After using the wand normally/traditionally (horizontally) I can then using the ball go vertical and really coat my lashes up. The reward for doing this is lashes that curl and try to reach the sky…

Before and after shots-do you notice I always do these when I really need a brow wax…lol I do!

I really love this mascara. This is one of those mascaras that I found myself really loving on days I wasn’t wearing any other eye makeup. You know how sometimes you don’t have time to do eye shadow and eyeliner but you want to look done? Well this is what I love pulling out on those days because this really dresses up my eyes. The curling effect thats in this formula makes me look more awake than I am. My lashes aren’t super stiff after using this and I like that. I hate brittle lashes.

Let me know if you’ve tried this or if you want to. I really think it’s worth the $$$ if you want a product that does all the work for you. The fact that it’s paraben-free, fragrance-free, oil-free and both non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic, which makes it good for sensitive eyes is worth mentioning also.

L’oreal Paris Voluminous Power Volume 24H Mascara-Blackest Black

I’d say that this is a middle of the road mascara for me. I don’t hate it but I’m not a die hard fan either. Voluminous mascaras always work for me. This one has a great formula but in my opinion the downfall is the super big (sorta floppy/wimpy) brush. I need stiffer bristles to get my lashes to move into place.

Most days when I use this mascara I need to manipulate my lashes after using the wand so they don’t cross over each other. Since I am a slap it on and go girl this frustrates me a little.

Don’t get me wrong I think this is a great drugstore mascara. But if your looking for something that does all the work for you this might not be it. I think what makes Almay’s Get Up & Grow work even though the brush is almost as large is that the wand bristles are stiffer/shorter and they make my difficult lashes obey! The Almay wand separates and coats my lashes better.

Check out the before and after. I think you get great length with this and with several coats I get the kind of volume I like.

For around $8 I think this mascara is going to be a good pick for a lot of people. It comes in a waterproof formula also and there are three shades available. Besides Blackest Black which I purchased, you can also get this in Black and Black Brown. I think this is a great fit for people that have easy to tame lashes. I think I’m a tough case, my lashes have a mind of their own:)

Have you checked this mascara out yet? Let us all know if you love it or hate it and why!

Almay Get Up & Grow Mascara-Blackest Black

I’ve been raving about this mascara for months on YouTube but never done a blog post on it. I must correct that cause this stuff is really GOOD.

Some information from Almay.com on the formula:

  • instantly longer looking lashes
  • anti-breakage pro-vitamin formula defends against damage so lashes continue to grow their longest
  • unique brush shape fits eye contours perfectly to reach every last lash
  • clump free, all day wear
  • ophthalmologist tested
  • suitable for contact lens wearers

I don’t use any other Almay products except the Makeup Eraser Sticks. I love those! Ok back to the mascara. It gives me length and volume. I really love the brush wand. It’s huge! For under $10 this mascara is one of the best at the drugstore in my opinion. My lashes look so long after applying this. And my lashes stay soft no matter how many coats of color I apply also. It’s right up there with my Holy Grail mascara’s which are Maybelline Colossal and L’oreal Voluminous Carbon Black. Get Up & Grow comes in black, black brown, and blackest black. They also have a waterproof version of the mascara.

Take a look at the before and after shots I took on the fly.

Dior Diorshow New Look Mascara-Black

This new mascara from Dior came out a few months ago. If it’s one thing I finally understand now it’s that DIOR KNOWS MASCARA. I’ve tried almost all of them and they are all good. My favorite (before trying this) was Diorshow Black Out. It’s good. It’s super black and creates amazing volume. When New Look came out I couldn’t wait to see the wand/brush. When I did see it, I was disappointed. The brush wand is really small. So the tube was in my cabinet for a few months. I pulled it out finally not expecting much but what I got was amazing.

That “little” wand brings out lashes that weren’t even visible before. I’m a volume girl when it comes to mascara more so than length but I get both with this! And here’s a big plus…I don’t have to be on “clump watch” all the time. The texture of the formula is just about perfect. My lashes are really soft after using New Look too. I hate having hard stiff lashes after applying mascara. That can’t be healthy for them in my opinion. I don’t know how the small brush wand is making this happen but it does!

before/after-two coats

This is worth checking into for mascara fanatics. It’s $28.50 a pop but I’d repurchase more in a heartbeat. This won’t replace the love of my life Armani’s Eyes To Kill but it comes close. Check this out at Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus. It also comes in blue and brown if you aren’t a fan of black mascara.

Here is the description for New Look mascara:

Diorshow New Look features an exclusive, breakthrough nano brush to catch and coat every last lash with the precision of a couturier’s hand. The extraordinary formula extraordinaire, with a Lash Amplifier™ ingredient, offers instant lash-multiplying action.

YSL Faux Cils Shocking Mascara-No.1 Deep Black

This is an interesting mascara. I love it but there are people out there that are not going to want to bother. I like thick, poofy, false looking lashes and I always have. I don’t care if I have to get the clumps out. With this mascara you really need to be patient and be ready to clean up extra product here and there. That being said I do love the end result. But if your a slap it on and go girl (like I am most times) this mascara may not be for you.

With the before and after I’m going to show you my wimpy lashes and what this mascara does for them. Here we go!

Before and After-two coats

Besides the fact that I need my eyebrows waxed I hope you get the idea that this looks pretty good. Personally I love it but since I’ve been using this I’ve noticed that you have to be on clump watch and the thick formula is your friend some days and some days its not. I have to wipe extra product off of the brush every other day and also have my lash brush on hand to help out when things get hairy/too clumpy. So basically this is a high maintenance mascara in my book. At $30 a tube that’s not gonna be worth it to some. If you want to spend that much loot and prefer less work (or none at all) I recommend Armani Eyes To Kill.

I haven’t had any issues with fallout and YSL Shocking lasts all day in 100 degree heat no problem! My lashes are slightly hard after using this but not stiff as a board which worries me. There are five other colors available besides black. I picked this up at Neiman’s. Check it out at the YSL counter on your next visit!

Drugstore Mascara Reviews

I’ve reviewed a lot of drugstore mascaras in the last year. I’ve done video reviews for some of them along with other products but mostly I’ve grouped the reviews together. I thought I’d put them all together (the videos) in case your wondering about trying something new. Drugstore mascara always makes me happy because you can get a $7 tube that easily out does a $30 one. I love that.

I’m working on tackling some high-end mascara reviews in the next several months and I’m thinking about adding live demo’s to the videos so you can see in real time how a mascara performs. I have been thinking for a while that talking about a mascara is just not enough. You have to see it in action sometimes to figure out if it’s right for you. Let me know if you think that would be helpful.

Please view the first one at your own risk. It’s gotten over 75,000 views but the lighting is not the best.

I’m going to tell you something many of you will disagree with. I don’t like/purchase waterproof mascara. I’ve done a video review series on YouTube where I compare many mascara’s and in the entire set of video’s I’ve reviewed, none of them were waterproof. Why? Because I never buy waterproof mascara. I prefer the original formula of each mascara be it high end or drugstore.

So this is PERFECT for me. I get the benefits of waterproof mascara and in the Summer I know I need it. But what I love about Lash Genius is that I can turn the mascara formulas I already know that I like into waterproof mascara with this clear topcoat. I’m fine with the extra step and I find that after two coats of the clear formula I’m ready for my favorite activity this Summer that’s the toughest on my lashes…the tennis court. I’m no Serena but I sweat up the court like I’m doing something! And no runny goopy lashes. This formula protects my lashes well and I would recommend that you use it with mascara’s that don’t leave your lashes stiff and hard. I try to stay away from mascara’s like that anyway but just a tip. Your lashes need to be somewhat easy to comb through to put this on top.

I was worried about adding something to my lashes and if it would take away the volume that I work so hard to get. Thankfully it doesn’t take out the volume I build up like a crazy person! And it isn’t any harder to remove my mascara at the end of the night. That was another concern of mine. Removing waterproof mascara formula’s isn’t my favorite thing to do. I have used some formulas in the past that were HELL to get off and that may be why I don’t like the stuff to begin with….

Lash Genius is $21 for a .19 oz tube. It can also be used with false lashes. I haven’t tried that yet but I will! Check out the video below showing how you can use the product with your favorite mascara or false lashes. I have to admit I giggled a little when she sprayed herself in the face with a water bottle. I’m like 5 yrs old at times. Ok most of the time:) Ha!
