I really liked Kat Von D shadows before but this set of palettes is on another level! I picked up the Monarch palette from Sephora a while ago for review and loved it almost instantly. The buttery shadow texture had me sold. These colors are easy to blend and the color payoff is excellent. It’s the warmer palette of the two and thats why I got it first. I tend to love warmer eye looks.

Here are some pictures of the Monarch eyeshadow palette! Please excuse the lighting for the swatches. It was a cloudy but sometimes sunny day outside so my swatches look crazy. Every time I went outside with a different set of swatches the sun was either out in full force or not out at all. It was crazy!
Entomology, Wrath, Papilio, and Summerfly
Telepathy, Killing Jar, Delaney, and Vanish
Tiny Death, Disintegration, Shadow Box, and Deadhead
I really have enjoyed using the Monarch palette over the last several weeks. There is only one color that I don’t like! The shadow shade Tiny Death is a glittery trouble maker. Oh well not liking one shade is not a problem at all! If you tend to favor doing warmer shadow looks I highly recommend this palette.
So weeks later I went to Sephora and saw the Chrysalis palette in person. I ordered the Monarch online without even seeing it or swatching it. But after a few swatches in store I had to get the Chrysalis palette also. Here is the info on the cooler toned beauty from Kat Von D.

I have less experience with this palette but I can already tell you that the purples are good. I had to use those first! Lucid seems to be a glitter fallout trouble maker just like Tiny Death from the Monarch palette. It swatches just like Tiny Death does.
Check both of these palettes out at Sephora on your next visit. They are there exclusively for $46 each. If you already have one or both of these palettes please let us all know your thoughts on them!
