Butter London Lippy-Primrose Hill Picnic

I can’t remember when I had more problems with a lip product. This new gloss from Butter London is so hard to work with I can’t even publish/post the pictures of me wearing it because it looks horrible. This is such a sticky hard to work with opaque gloss that it’s going back to Ulta on the first thing smokin!

I tried several different ways to make this work. All of them failed. I love the bright pink color but I hate the super sticky texture and the fact that it’s impossible to keep the pink color consistant across my lips. That’s why there are no pictures. You can literally see different levels of pink color. Not an all over finish of pink if that makes sense. I erased my lips (with concealer) but not even that helped the situation. No lip balm or with lip balm, it didn’t matter. The least I expect from a gloss is a consistant color throughout regardless of color and texture and I couldn’t achieve that. To coat my lips it took three dips of the doe foot wand applicator but even then I had to WERK to get the gloss to look even. I tried with less and I tried with more. Still it wasn’t any better. I tried a lip brush still no good.

With my best efforts…I still wouldn’t leave my house in this. After two hours the color is spotty in the center of my mouth and patent leather glossy around the sides of my mouth. Yikes….serious texture issues.

At $17 a tube it’s going back. I love the shade and packaging but I don’t have time to “babysit” and work on a gloss like it’s a science project. I love your nail polishes Butter London but I will skip your gloss with regrets! I understand that this might be a great fit for some but if you want to try this keep your receipt in case it doesn’t work for you.

This Just In: 4 Mac Eye Shadows and A Lipglass

The Mac Me Over Collection came out last month. At first I had a bunch of stuff to purchase from the release but as I sat back and watched the reviews I decided that I just wanted a few shadows and a lip gloss. I’m more excited about some Paint Pots and a few other things they have coming out this month. I also picked up a pretty eye shadow from the Bloggers Obsessions Collection before it’s gone.

My much smaller order arrived and I thought I’d show you my picks! Everything looks beautiful, I’m excited about using all this pretty stuff.

I got this lip gloss a few months ago and I’ve been using it here and there. I can’t say that I love it but it isn’t bad either. I love lip gloss and I have high expectations when I use a new one. I expect it to be comfortable to wear and great looking. Not much to ask for right? Well sometimes actually it is.

This lip gloss looks gorgeous in the tube and really pretty on the lips. I fell for the color and after looking at the close-ups of the tube I’m sure you can see why. The light pink color I knew wouldn’t show up much on my lips as they are very pigmented but I was in love with the shimmer. I loooove shimmer/glitter. I’m a sucker for it.

But the brush. I hate the brush…these kind of brushes should be banned. They NEVER work for me. Take a look.

It’s not like the brush gets in the way of the application process much. I just hate it. Please use doe foot applicators for lip gloss MUFE! The other drawback is the consistency. It’s a bit too gritty for my tastes. Not so much that I wont wear it but for $18 a tube I expect a smoother gloss. It does smell good and there isn’t a strange taste to the gloss at all so like I said I’ll use it but I don’t love it.

I have another shade and I’ll show you that sometime soon but if you want to shell out almost $20 there are much better options out there.

Chanel Glossimer Blossom #152 Lip Gloss

My very first Glossimer from Chanel…..isn’t it pretty?!

I got this at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale last month and I was so excited. I love the color and really was very curious about the Glossimer formula. I’ve heard a lot of different things about it. Based on what I was heard I was kind of surprised when I started testing Blossom out. This is a beautiful looking gloss, there is no denying that. But its gritty. I am shocked. I love it and have worn it here and there for over a month but it’s so GRITTY. It looks great alone and even better over lipstick but why isn’t the formula smoother:( Did I mention it was $29? I want it to be much smoother for that much loot. The colors that sparkle through the light pink base are so pretty, there is purple or maybe its blue in there and green I think. I can’t even tell exactly it’s just so well done. But the feel of the gloss is the only drawback. Even in low light it glows….talk about eye-catching!

I love it though. I can’t deny it. I’d buy it again. There isn’t any scent or taste to the gloss which is good. It’s a brilliant shining gloss that I love and makes me feel like a million bucks! I just wish it was less gritty feeling and less sticky on the lips. Oh well.

Dolce & Gabbana Ultra Shine Vibrant Lipgloss #143

What a color! I knew this was for me as soon as my favorite SA Nikki at Saks in Houston swatched it for me. I’m all about a bright pink/fuchsia and this is it!

So I have a few things to say about this and depending on what you like maybe you will want to get one of these. This gloss is THICK. It’s thicker than almost every other lipgloss I have. It’s really like liquified lipstick in a tube to me. I usually put on lipstick and then top it off with lip gloss most days if I’m not testing out any lip products. This lipgloss looks like I did both of those steps. It’s got the rich staying power of lipstick with the glossy shine of gloss. All in one tube! The formula is creamy and totally opaque on me. The packaging is pretty and you get a good doe foot applicator with this gloss.

I think this is a good buy. The color and formula are a hit for me. One thing I have noticed is that I have to put this on with a mirror. Because of the formula’s thickness it isn’t one of those slap it on and go shades. I have to look at it in the mirror to make sure it’s evenly coating my lips. See in the picture above how it’s a little uneven on my top lip? Yeah…that is what happens if you put it on without taking a look in the mirror.

I have another D&G lipgloss color to show you and I’ll do that soon. These retail for $29 each so I’d recommend visiting your nearest D&G counter to swatch them yourself. There are some great colors available.

Nuance Ultra Shine Lip Gloss Strawberry #120

I picked up one of the new Salma Hayek Lip Gloss colors at the drugstore last week. I got the glittery/shimmery color Strawberry. I have to say when they put Ultra Shine in the name of this gloss they were not kidding. This color really sparkles on the lips! The shimmer isn’t gritty or uncomfortable on my lips which is a huge plus. I hate gritty gloss. The gloss is a little sticky and tacky to me though unfortunately. That’s the only reason it’s not a must have for me. It’s like a Mac gloss, a bit too sticky but such a gorgeous color. I’m not sure I’d get another one but I really like this one. I think it would look great over a few lipsticks that I have.

The gloss is moisturizing and has a pleasant smell to it. It’s not too overpowering. The taste is interesting, its got a slight taste to it that is kind of good. I say that because it’s not like they went overboard trying to make it taste good it just does. The ingredients include mimosa extract, and mango oil. There are several good vitamins in the mix like A, C, & E. The formula is hypoallergenic, paraben free, and not tested on animals so overall it’s a good for you lip gloss! It retails for about $8 at CVS.

Le Metier De Beaute La Belle Lipgloss

I love this lipgloss. I can’t get over how pretty the color is and how different it is from anything that I currently own. This is my second LMDB lipgloss and I feel like I’ve just scratched the surface on what they have. The colors are amazing.

I reviewed Dubai another favorite recently and if you love pink you should check that out here. Anyway La Belle is a shade that was suggested to me by the lovely Lisa at my local Neiman’s. I told her I wanted my next lip gloss after Dubai to be darker but good for everyday and when she pulled out the tester of La Belle I was sceptical. I thought it was too dark and she knew what I was thinking and said you have to see this on your lips it will look great. She was sooo right. I couldn’t believe it. LMDB glosses have a great doe foot applicator. It’s just the right size and I like how it’s not messy and you get just the right amount to apply after every dip into the tube.

Besides the uniqueness of the color La Belle you also get one of the best formulas I’ve ever come across and you know I’ve come across a lot! The gloss is light not sticky and the shimmer isn’t annoying. I sometimes love lip gloss but hate the way the glitter (which I am addicted to) feels on my lips. There isn’t a trade-off here which is great. You don’t have to sacrifice comfort for beauty with this. Touching up isn’t necessary for many hours and there is no awkward scent or taste with La Belle. The gloss fades beautifully on your lips and you will get compliments because this color is just so pretty and appealing to lovers of neutral lips with a little deeper tint. These retail for $32 each, check Nordstrom and Neiman’s for this!

Kissable Couture Johnny Lipgloss

I’m in love with lip gloss in general and I picked a beautiful one up recently. It’s called Johnny from Kissable Couture.

I tried to take plenty of pictures so you can see the golden flecks of glitter in this lip gloss formula. It’s shimmery, sparkly and so moisturizing. This is my first Kissable Couture gloss but it won’t be my last. I can’t put my finger on the smell, its vanilla maybe? It’s not overpowering at all which is good. The gloss doesn’t have any flavor/taste and it isn’t too sticky. This gets a huge thumbs up. If you’d like to take a look at the colors available Kissable Couture has a website, check it out here. They have a gloss called First Lady, inspired by Michelle Obama. It looks like the perfect nude. I’m going to try that one next. It’s so hard for me to find a good nude gloss.

They had a special 2 for 1 price at the Makeup Show in Chicago. The gloss is regularly $22 (.16oz.) a tube. I’m glad I love it!

Bobbi Brown High Shimmer Lip Gloss Pink Tulle #2

This lip gloss is so gorgeous! I can’t even tell you how much I love wearing this. It’s shimmery and just perfect. I love wearing it alone. I put it over lipstick and of course it looks great but I like it best alone. It makes me look all done up you know? I put on some concealer, mascara, and this gloss and I look like I really put some effort in! It’s moisturizing too. There is a slightly minty smell and no taste to the gloss. Application is easy there is a nice doe foot applicator. There is .24 oz. of gloss so I’m not too mad at the price considering how much I love what’s in the tube.

It’s going in my purse and I’m going to go ahead and get the Citrus one also. Bobbi came out with three shades in all and at $22 each and I wanted to try one first. But let me tell you I’m sold!

Sample this if you’re all about shimmer because I think you’ll love it.

Le Metier De Beaute Dubai Lip Gloss

Le Metier De Beaute’s Dubai….is love. I wanted this gloss from the moment that I saw it and boy was I right! This is a beautiful shade and at $32 a tube it should be right? Well it is. From the moment the doe foot applicator touched my lips I think I heard angels singing. This formula isn’t sticky or tacky at all. It’s the best textured lip gloss I’ve come across in a while. It’s like butter the way it glides on. I used two coats to amp up the color a bit. One coat just isn’t enough sparkle for me.

I took a picture in daylight (left) above and a picture in low light so you can see that with two coats the sparkle is really pretty in both. Yesterday I used this over lipstick and besides adding tons of moisture this also adds some special sparkle to a deeper lipstick shade. There is no taste or smell to the gloss but the color is out of this world!

I recommend this highly. I really do. I am going to wear this tube out!
