I’m crazy about eye primer. I crave every kind of eyeshadow so I guess it makes sense. I don’t have super oily lids thank goodness but most formulas work on my lids and keep my eyeshadow just where I put it all day.

I was excited to try this cool primer pen from Cargo. How neat does this look? Cool huh? The ease of use is a key benefit with this. It’s really easy to place primer exactly where you want it. The only thing that I was super worried about was the leave behind color on my lids. You see for my lighter skinned beauty girls out there this will help even out your lid color. But since I am a deeper shade of brown I wondered would that make this a no go for me? I’m glad to say that I haven’t had an issue yet and I’ve been using this for several weeks.

I decided to show you in pictures a swatch of the product on me and then what it looks like when blended out. So as you can see this really doesn’t stand in the way of my eyeshadow application. I must stress that my usual step after primer is putting down some type of creamy base (Mac Paint Pot or Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow) for extra staying power to get me through the summer heat. Then on top of that I put down some powder eyeshadow. The layering effect really helps things stay put when its hot and also adds some depth to my eye look which is nice.

Overall this has been working for me for weeks. I didn’t think that anything could tear me away from my favorite, Lorac Behind the Scenes (reviewed here) but this Cargo primer did. I think it’s because this is so much easier to apply and a little goes a very long way. Cargo EyeBase retails for $20, check it out if you’re looking for a new eye primer.

I bought this primer for $5 when Sephora was discontinuing Cargo. I’ve used it a few times but I don’t like the white/ash film it leaves behind.
