Lorac Behind the Scenes Eyeshadow Primer

Eyeshadow primer is a must for me. I don’t put color on my lids without putting on some primer first. I have oily skin and oily eyelids so it’s a given. Besides I remember the few times when I put eyeshadow on without a primer and the gross mess that my eyelids became shortly after that.

I have tried several eyeshadow primers in the past. I like Urban Decay Primer Potion, Too Faced Shadow Insurance, and Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base. All of these brands work for me. I wasn’t a fan of Smashbox’s Photo Finish Lid Primer. That didn’t work for me at all because it had a slight color to it when it dried on my lids. I really don’t like my eyeshadow primer to have any tint to it. Lorac’s eyeshadow primer dries quickly with an invisible finish. That is why it is my favorite primer. The texture is nice and creamy and a little goes a long way. I really like the squeezable slant tip tube it comes in as well. I took a picture so you can hopefully see the consistency. It dries to a seemless finish so it was pointless to swatch it. I did and you can’t tell it’s there!

I got this as part of a set from Sephora several months ago. In fact I was excited about everything in the set (Close Up: Real Life to Red Carpet Eye Tutorial $36) except the primer. Not only did this end up being my favorite item from the set, it also ended up being my favorite eyeshadow primer out of all the brands I have used. Purchased alone this primer is $20 for .47 oz of product. It’s good that a little goes a long way! If you are interested the complete set is still available on Sephora’s website. It’s actually a nice set with eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, and eyeshadow primer all for $36.

Disclosure: I purchased this item myself!
