Marc Jacobs Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation-#84 Cocoa Medium

Marc Jacobs Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation #84 Cocoa Medium, $48 at Sephora

I heard the rumors and they were true. This is a goooood foundation. Something (besides many of you!) made me want to try this right away so I headed to my local Sephora to check it out. They were out of stock in my shade #84 so I had to go to another Sephora to get it. I didn’t even want to do the sample thing. I wanted the bottle baby!

Application is easy. I tried this every which way. With all kinds of foundation brushes, a beauty blender, and my fingers. It looks the same regardless which in itself is kind of amazing. The texture of the foundation is why it works so well in my opinion. It floats onto your skin and is super forgiving. It looks so natural, there is a seamless blend between my face and neck which is essential unless you want to look crazy when your out in public. When I look at my bottle I don’t think #84 looks like a good fit for me but once applied it blends in like it was made for me. The glass bottle worries me a little bit but I’m so glad that this foundation has a pump.

Don’t do what I did. Get a sample of this foundation (a healthy one!) and try it out and make darn sure its a good fit for you. At $50 this is not a foundation that should sit on your vanity. It’s a 1 oz. bottle and as much as I love it I know I’ll be buying another bottle before I know it. I love this stuff. I figure I’ll try to switch off between this and Smashbox Liquid Halo Foundation. Those are my two favorites at the moment when it comes to high end foundation. I wear both of them quite a bit in my YouTube videos. They both look so beautiful on the skin and natural.

Have you checked this out at Sephora? Let us all know your thoughts if you have!

IS this better than the Smashbox Liquid Halo? I’m gonna get one of them this weekend with my 20% off just trying to narrow it down lol…

Testing them out on the store would be best foundation is a a hard one to call for someone else when your not sure what type skin they have and other factors. I really think they are equally good but I like the MJ a tad bit better personally.

I saw another Youtube beauty guru review this and I went and got a sample. I am in Cocoa Deep.

I had been suggested to try the Stila foundation so I bought it, and while I liked it, it seemed to be a bit red for my taste – I was hesitant because it being a high end foundation I wanted to be in LOVE with it to justify paying so much for it. Once I had the Marc Jacobs Genius Gel sample, I returned the Stila and got my beautiful bottle. I do LOVE IT!!

I think I have found my perfect stash of drugstore and high end foundations and can release the addiction – for now at least! :-)

I just got my sample in #84 and I can’t wait to try it on this weekend for a bachelorette party.

Do you finish it with a power? If so whats the best one to use? I have combination skin, oily in the t-zone and don’t want to glow too much at the end of the night.

    Thanks :-)

In the Summer yes. I have used literally all of my face powders (drugstore & high end) with the foundation since I wear it so often and I haven’t had any problems. I apply powder in my t-zone only. The rest of my face is normal usually and kind of dry in the Winter.
