Mac Viva Glam Rihanna Lipstick & Lipglass ($16 and $15 at Mac Cosmetics)
This combo came to my door late yesterday and I couldn’t wait to slap it on my lips! I’m going to say I love the fact that Mac has committed to such a charitable venture like the Viva Glam campaign and year after year they get someone interesting to be a part of it. One of my favorite reds ever was Viva Glam Cyndi the lipstick. Such a beautiful red! Well here comes Rihanna…she’s a little bit cold and frosty lipstick wise and her gloss is glittery (as hell) like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz’s shoes. The ruby slippers are in a tube!
Here we go with the lipstick first off. Granted on the bottom it says the finish is a Frost. So this is a frosty red. I will tell you right off the bat that I like pairing these both together. Lipstick and gloss. But alone the lipstick is ok but a tad too frosty for my tastes to wear alone. It’s a bit of a dated look.
And now for the magic. Together….I LOVE THEM. Lipstick and Lipglass BOOM!
Are you wondering how the gloss looks alone? I thought you might! The gloss is straight up glitter! Remember Dorothy’s shoes and how I mentioned them earlier? Ummm yeah. Glittorama! It’s not something I’d wear alone. If you look at it on my lips you can see the glitter it’s not subtle.
And now here it is (the gloss) on the lips alone.
So long story short I love them together but separately not so much! What are your thoughts? Will you be checking out Mac’s latest? It’s in stores now.
Nice but I think I’ll pass. Me and frosty don’t go together and me and glittery glosses don’t go together.
Understood! I wonder why they chose that finish on the lipstick? It’s so DYNASTY. Ha!

They super pretty on you, and I agree together they are great. But I could see myself rocking them alone if I only had one in my purse and need a quick pick me up for date night. BTW, I love the new design of the blog (esp. the Bond Girl at the top). I’ve been so busy at work and traveling the last few months I had even had time to indulge in beauty blog/videos etc…..but I’m LOVING it:)!…xo Asia

I really tried to like the lipstick alone, but it was a big NO for me. I put the Revlon crystal water on top of the lipstick and I was feeling that combo more than the lipstick alone. I see I am going to have to buy the lip glass now, because the lip glass makes the lipstick more appealing in my opinion.
I think the lip glass is def what sells it!
Agreed 100% I saw the swatches online on fair skin tones and I knew I would have to try it on first. I ended up passing on the lipstick, but purchasing her gloss- I feel like I could pair it on another red that I like such as riri woo for the same effect.

I’m kinda obsessed with Dorthy’s ruby red slippers so I’ll definitely check out that lip gloss! I don’t know, maybe it will be pretty on the center of the lip with a red lipstick!

I’m with you.. together better, just not separate. I missed out on VG Cyndi and I’ve trying so hard to find this without paying a small fortune. Wish they would repromote that one.
I like how the earlier ones from Viva Glam are available. I feel like they all should be to put more money into the foundation. I love the lip glasses 5&6 and have purchased them both a few times. Wish they’d make them all available for us!
I only bought the lipglass and it is gorgeous for a little while but then it starts separating on my lips because of all the glitter! Am I alone in this?
I bought them both this past weekend. I like the lipstick alone but not the gloss alone. Together though they are the BOMB! I wear them both together and it looks FAB!!
