I picked up a tube of OPI Avoplex a few months ago in my quest to find the best hand cream. I’m about to finish the tube so I thought I’d do a quick blog post with my thoughts on the product. It’s a good hand cream but it’s not great. I had a lot of hopes for this since it’s called “high intensity” and all. I have ashy little fingers that just don’t stay pretty and smooth without some major help.
The thing is Avoplex doesn’t last through a good hand washing. My hands looked great after application but a few hours later (and after washing my hands) I was in the same boat as before. I had super dry cuticles and hands that were slightly ashy. Oy! I did like the fresh smell and texture of the cream, that I enjoyed. But it didn’t work well on my frequently washed dry hands.
From the Ulta website:
Envelops severely overworked hands in protective butters, OPI’s Advanced Avocado Lipid Complex, and a unique deep penetrating hydrolyzed protein that binds with skin and nails to lock in moisture. With repeated use the result is a dramatic increase in elasticity for softer, smoother hands and more flexible nails.
I think that this cream should be a little a thicker. I really think it would stay put on my paws if it was!
If you really want something that lasts a lot longer check out Soap & Glory’s Hand Food . Or The Body Shop’s Almond Hand & Nail Cream and Hemp Hand Protector (both reviewed here) for much better and long lasting results. I am glad that I tried Avoplex because it’s $7.50 for 1.7 oz at Ulta. That’s a decent price point for hand cream in general. I got lucky with the The Body Shop hand creams they were on sale for half price. I got them for $10 each and have plenty left since they are 3.3 oz’s each. So I’ll just stick with the other brands that I’ve tried as they all last a bit longer than OPI’s Avoplex cream.
Have you tried any great hand creams lately? Do tell!

I use it every NIGHT ONLY.
It feels like you’re putting vaseline on, but the next morning my hands are soooooo soft and hydrated ….Love it!

I tried it a long time ago but I think it’s worth looking into again. Before I used it during the day and it wasn’t a fit but at night it could be a great fit!
